Making the Connections

Leading a school is tough enough—and recruitment can be a full-time job! Job fairs are expensive. Online postings yield unsuitable prospects. Sifting through generic resumes can be frustrating. Classical Commons lessens the burden of recruitment by bringing more talent to the leader’s digital doorstep.

Providing Value,
Saving Time

School leaders know the importance of finding the right teachers and staff. Experienced leaders build networks designed to find and hire talent. Our team at Classical Commons draws upon decades of experience and national networks to locate and attract that talent for our member schools.

Classical Commons provides pre-screened candidates who are seeking to serve in a classical school. Leaders simply browse detailed profiles to find the candidates of interest—then make contact when ready to interview. Our team finds the talent, member schools decide which ones are the right fit.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the credits? How do they work?

To enter the Membership portal, registered schools purchase a 6-month membership to access the profiles of prospective talent—teachers and staff—for recruitment. Inside the Membership portal, designated school leaders can search and review talent profiles before selecting candidates to interview. Each candidate selected for an interview requires a Membership credit to contact the candidate. Two Membership levels include 5 and 10 credits, respectively.

Classical Commons works with scores of liberal arts colleges and universities, homeschool groups, career placements offices, veterans affairs groups (for those who have returned to civilian life), associations of retirees, etc.—all while connecting to K-12 classical schools, where families, teachers, leaders, and supporters are disseminating the message: K-12 classical schools across the country are hiring talented people.

Candidates complete the “Commons Application” (see here) providing personal information, training, academic credentials, experience, and candidate preferences: grade-level, subject area, willingness to relocate, etc. Upon receipt of the application, the team at Classical Commons reviews the resume, solicits written answers to philosophical and pedagogical prompts, and confirms the candidate’s interests and willingness to teach in a K-12 classical school.

No. Complete the basic form and the Classical Commons team will review your application. If selected, you will receive essay prompts which will accompany your Candidate Profile which will be distributed to all schools within the Classical Commons community (currently limited to 100).

Once applicants are identified as qualified Candidates, they will receive a series of three prompts exploring their philosophical and pedagogical ideas. Upon submission of those short essays, the profiles of Candidates will be distributed to all (up to 100) school leaders for review.
