How A New School Program Aims To Help Boys Thrive Academically

The Today Show (March 4, 2025)

Last month, the Today show featured Boy’s Latin School of Maryland in a 4-minute overview of a new program designed to increase boys’ academic performance with a more holistic approach. Mornings begin with open gym; there’s more time for hands-on projects, like building scaled models; and cell phones are off-limits during the day. Headmaster Chris Post, formerly of The Knox Schools and Height School, is enthusiastic for how these changes are improving the academic and emotional health of his 630+ young men. Part of the push for these boy-friendly improvements comes from the American Institute for Boys and Men, which seeks to address the growing gender gap in K-12 schools with research focused on education, mental health, employment, black boys & men, and fatherhood & family.
