Steven Schipp on Hillsdale College’s K-12 Classical Education Podcast

In this 20-minute episode of the Hoogland Center Lectures, Dr. Steven Schipp discusses how Seven Oaks Classical is composing an internal document that serves to focus their efforts in classical education: the portrait of a graduate.

By keeping the end in mind, faculty and staff are constantly returning to this ideal from which their efforts derive coherence and purpose. Integrated with the school’s mission statement and in accord with the 13-year arc of schooling, the ultimate test of the school’s activities are the graduates whose adults lives have been shaped by their formative years at Seven Oaks.

Robert L. Jackson

For 25 years, Dr. Jackson has promoted liberal education through teaching, scholarship, and administrative activities. He began as a professor of English and education, then worked as chief academic officer at Great Hearts, where he founded the GH Institute. He has received teaching awards from Florida State University and The King’s College, and was the 2021 recipient of the Salvatori Prize for American Citizenship. Currently, Dr. Jackson serves as senior fellow for both Flagler College and the Chesterton Schools Network. He is also associate editor for Principia journal. Rob enjoys convivial conversations, his latest literary discovery, and cruising around town on the cycle.
